What Is Benchmark MA.1.NSO.1.1?

In Grade 1, children count forward and backward by ones from any number up to 120. They also skip count by 2s up to 20 and by 5s up to 100.

Counting on (forward) is the start of addition, and counting back is the start of subtraction. A 120 chart helps children see the patterns in the ones and tens.

Official benchmarkStarting at a given number, count forward and backwards within 120 by ones. Skip count by 2s to 20 and by 5s to 100.

How it is tested: Grade 1 students take FAST Star Math, Florida's math test for Kindergarten through Grade 2.
