FAST Mathematics results for Grades 3–8 have two main parts: a scale score (a number, such as 215) and an achievement level from 1 to 5.
Level 3 means On Grade Level. Levels 3, 4 (Proficient), and 5 (Exemplary) meet the state standard. Levels 1 (Well Below Grade Level) and 2 (Below Grade Level) do not yet meet it. The scale score needed for each level is different in each grade, so the table below is the easiest way to see where your child stands.
Find your child's grade, then find the range that includes their scale score.
| Grade | Level 1 | Level 2 | Level 3 | Level 4 | Level 5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Grade 3 | 140–182 | 183–197 | 198–208 | 209–224 | 225–260 |
| Grade 4 | 155–199 | 200–210 | 211–220 | 221–237 | 238–273 |
| Grade 5 | 158–206 | 207–221 | 222–233 | 234–245 | 246–285 |

Every FAST test covers the full year of grade-level math. At PM1 and PM2, your child has not been taught all of it yet, so a lower level is common early in the year.
The Florida Department of Education says PM1 and PM2 results should not be considered student achievement designations. PM3, at the end of the year, is the result that measures mastery of the grade-level standards.
Families see results in the Florida Statewide Assessments Family Portal. The report includes:
A number on the FAST reporting scale. It is not a percentage or the number of questions answered correctly.
Level 1 through Level 5. Level 3 means on grade level. The score needed for each level depends on the grade.
Shows whether your child is below, at or near, or above the standard in broad math areas, such as fractions or geometry.
Compares your child's performance with other Florida students. A percentile of 60 means your child scored as well as or better than about 60% of students. It is not a percent correct.
Shows results from PM1, PM2, and PM3 so you can see how performance changes during the year.
Reporting categories point to broad areas, not individual skills. Your child's teacher can see results by benchmark and can tell you which specific skills to practice.
